Safe Haven Child Development Center is based upon the following promises:
- Designed to offer a well-developed, well balanced, inclusive child care program for children 2 weeks up to 14 years.
- Licensed January-December from 6:00am – 6:00 am (24 hours) 7 days a week.
- Healthy creative development of children and support for success of each child.
- We provide for language development for all children including infants and toddlers.
- We include opportunities for a child to make choices and to learn by doing.
- We promote physical and emotional growth.
- We are enriched through multi-cultural experiences and are consistent with the cultural ethnic background of the children.
We provide for individual and group experiences of self-image:
- Shows respect for each child
- Listens and responds to all children
- Provides one on one contact by greeting each child by name.
- Follows through on promises.
- Protects personal belongings by labeling cubby areas, and individual class work with the child’s name.
- Avoid situations, which stereotype racial/ethnic backgrounds.
- Accepts each child’s language
- Provides opportunities to talk about feelings and to laugh
- Talks to infants and toddlers during routines such as eating and changing diapers.
Creative Expression:
- Children are given the opportunity to handle many materials such as paint, play dough etc.
- Exposure to music including religious music, games, toys and various foods.
- Exposure to water, learning through play, and stories.
We provide social interaction:
- An opportunity for children to talk together in small groups and participate in large group activity.
- An opportunity to eat together and discuss experiences.
- A chance for each child to succeed at something during his/her stay at the center, increasing the child’s self-esteem.
- A chance for children to interact with other children in other classrooms of varying ages.
Intellectual Stimulation:
- Children are encouraged to solve problems, initiate activities, explore, experiments, learning by doing and language understanding.
- Children use their names, addresses, age, telephone numbers, signs and labels in learning to recognize symbols for letters and numbers.
- Children are introduced to all holidays such as Easter, Christmas, fourth of July, Mother’s day, Father’s day, Kwanza, Hanukkah Cinco de Mayo, etc. and celebrations.
